We have a number of sessions running from Monday through to Friday as above. Saturday and Sunday are left for our party bookings. There is a 2-week free trial offered to everyone (after 2 weeks, insurance needs to be paid). You can join an existing group or if you have a mothers group or group of friends and would like to start a new group session, please reach out via our Facebook group to check for available times. Each group session requires two members to be:

  1. A group leader. This position helps to run each group by helping to meet new group members during our open days, showing them around the playgroup, helping to coordinate a group chat so that all members can keep in communication in between playgroup sessions, and helping to coordinate a volunteer(s) for busy bee cleaning sessions that occur throughout the year (held on a needs basis).
This role allows for a free party once a year.
  2. A committee member. This is dependent on which roles are required to be filled at the time of enquiry.
This role allows for half-price membership fees and a free party (note that this excludes the insurance fee which is still payable in full).

Membership

Members pay an annual fee which includes an insurance fee of $35. If you join later in the year, you can pay from the term that you start. If you would like to attend more than one session a week there is no additional charge but please list extra session on your enrolment form. Each member receives:

  • Access to all of our toys and resources during their session time
  • Half price venue party hire fee ($50 for members and $150 for non-members for a 4 hour hire, from 8am-12pm or 1pm-5pm Saturdays and Sundays).

Fees and start dates for 2023 are as follows:

Please complete the enrolment form by clicking the Yellow enrollment button. Hard copies of the enrolment form are also available in the folder if you don’t have access to a printer. Next to the enrolments folder is a diary where each member is required to sign into each session. This is required to record attendance for insurance purposes.

Questions and Answers

A playgroup is a group of parents, caregivers and extended family who come together with their babies and young children to learn through play. Playgroups are a great way for your kids to interact with other children in a fun and safe environment, while giving you the opportunity to interact with other parents.

Playgroups provide a nurturing environment for children and their family or carer. There is a strong sense of belonging to the community with opportunities to form friendships, share ideas and information.

While at playgroup, children have the opportunity to learn through play and develop social, emotional, physical and cognitive skills in a safe and stimulating environment. They are also a lot of fun for children as they learn through play and interact with other children and adults.

Importantly, playgroup also provides the opportunity for parents and children to play together, which is critical to children’s healthy development. By creating a space where parents and caregivers have the opportunity to spend time with their children, playgroups can enhance relationships through play.

Playgroups are a safe and nurturing environment where children can play and learn:

  • Enhance healthy early brain development through play
  • Opportunities for children to create, invent, reason and problem solve
  • Opportunities to build attachment between adults and children as they play together, and share time and experiences
  • Learn social skills as they negotiate with peers, resolve conflict, take turns, share and make friends
  • Build resilience to enable them to cope with new situations and manage stress and adapt to change.

Playgroup is a space where families can create their own locally based friends and social networks.

  • A place where parents and caregivers can support each other through sharing ideas, parenting experiences, concerns and information
  • Build family capacity through peer support
  • A place where families can build long-term friendships as their children grow and transition to school
  • An affordable and regular opportunities for families to enjoy a shared outing

Your yearly fee gives you access to exclusive member benefits, free events, workshops, playdays, fundraising advice and most importantly insurance cover. All members of Coastal Playgroup must be members of Playgroup WA (Inc). For further information please visit: https://playgroupwa.com.au/member-benefits/

Tea and coffee are provided for adults and there are cups, plates, bowls, chopping boards and knives available to use. You will need to bring your own food but please bear in mind that we have a strict NO NUTS policy as a we are an allergen free playgroup. Each session has their own way of doing things; some sessions bring a piece of fruit per child for a shared morning tea, some sessions bring individual lunch boxes for their children and some sessions have a roster for bringing snacks/share plates. Your Session Contact will advise you of how your session usually manages food/snacks.

To ensure a pleasant environment, each session is limited to 20 families or 30 children. For this reason, please contact us to check session availability before attending trial sessions or enroling to attend.

At our playgroup we have an airconditioned indoor play area along with an outdoor undercover area, playgroup and cubby house. Our facility includes a huge range of indoor and outdoor toys. Inside we have toilets with a change table and kitchen facilities where members can make complimentary tea and coffee and have the option to bring their own coffee pods to use our Nespresso machine. We have sensory tubs and a craft trolly that can be used in sessions to provide the children with sensory and art experiences. Throughout the year we organise incursions and hold an annual end of year celebration.

You are welcome to attend 2 trial sessions prior to joining.  If the first session you try doesn’t really fit your needs, you may like to try a different session time to see if it’s a better fit. You will need to sign the Visitors Register each time, for insurance purposes.

As we share our facilities with other users we only run sessions during school term. Term dates can be found on our Facebook Page. Please message us there or email coastalplaygroup@gmail.com to organise your session visit.

No. Our members live in City Beach, neighbouring suburbs and beyond.

We understand life is busy and these things happen. We’ll refund the balance of your membership less the insurance fee, for the rest of the year.

Yes. We are affiliated with Playgroup WA and part of your membership fee is passed on to them. Playgroup WA provides comprehensive insurance cover for all our activities as well as providing support, resources and discounts to our members and committee.

Absolutely! We just ask that the adult carer for your child/children signs both the Attendence Register for your child, and the Visitor’s register for themselves.

Unfortunately the answer is no, as playgroup is for children aged 0-5.

Our playgroup is run by parent volunteers. We all have young children and many of us have returned to work too. We do our best to fit things in when the kids are asleep or quiet but they are still our priority. We apologise if we take a couple of days to get back to you.
